The people of the mummies 

100 miles south of the capital, in the bowels of the department of Cundinamarca, is San Bernardo. This small town of about 3,500 inhabitants, located in the Sumapaz region, was founded in 1910 in honor of Archbishop Bernardo Herrera Restrepo. has recently been highlighted as one of the only places in Latin America where the phenomenon of natural mummification or occurs spontaneously. For this reason, the cemetery is one of the most visited places. 



The mausoleum houses 14 mummies identified, although there are over 30 who are in an underground vault, waiting to be sorted and displayed to the public.
